We will try to record the public IP address (the one provided by your operator) in the next versionof AliveBox, but unfortunately it will not be valid for all modems, because the info is sometimes difficult to achieve. It would be very easy to have it by connecting to the Internet but this is not possible because of security choices (AliveBox not connect to the internet).
In this regard, the new version will AliveBox 2 queries to the modem (with respect to the livebox sagem anyway). 2 will be the maximum, because even if it does not clutter up the Internet connection, it is still working modem and PC. AliveBox is designed to use the least possible resources (memory, processor, etc..) Then 2 really seems like a maximum.
